Racing in a world-class facility! I'm so glad we tried a session at Windsor Aquatic Center!

THANK YOU, CHAD for paying for lane rental!

We had planned on 2 rounds of 4 x 50's @ 6:00. Today we raced a 25m course in our first international session vs. 25y. Due to pool rental and scheduling, we had some uncertainty at the end of our workout. We ended up swimming the 50's and had a last-minute switch to 6 x 25's at the end. A welcome change that allowed more focus on starts and front-end speed when we were starting to break down.

We collectively learned some lessons about traveling over the border. Namely, the variables that worked and others we would want to alter. There are some extra variables vs. other facilities:

Border Charges: ~$18 round trip
Lane Rental: $50 total for two lanes
Border Crossing time: Nearly no wait at all on a Wednesday evening

Today we had 4 swimmers. This trip starts to make financial sense when people can carpool and plan a larger group to split the lane cost.

The pool

Windsor Aquatic Center is literally a world-class facility. Built for the 2016 FINA World Championships. I'm always impressed with this place. Windsor did it right. I would change very few things. I'll be back soon!

The monthly rate for ALL Windsor pools is $40 CAD, which is in the $30 USD range for access to world-class pools. What a bargain.

The set

4 x 50 Race of the blocks @ 6:00 2 extra min rest 6 x 25 Race of the blocks @ 3:00
