Andrew McFee

Andrew McFee is a proud member and board member of Swim Champs, where he enjoys being part of a team that combines competition, friendship, and a shared love of swimming. A lifelong swimmer and competitor, Andrew still loves the challenge of training and racing, especially Backstroke, IM, Fly, and distance. Andrew has competed extensively through U.S. Masters Swimming and has earned national recognition, including USMS Top Ten honors and relay All-American distinction. While he enjoys chasing faster times, what keeps him connected to the sport is the people: the teammates, the shared workouts, the encouragement, and the chance to keep competing as an adult. Outside the pool, Andrew is a husband, father, and member of a family-owned Michigan manufacturing business. He brings those same values of hard work, commitment, and community to Swim Champs. As a board member, he is proud to help support the team’s future and create a welcoming place for swimmers of all backgrounds to train, compete, and belong.
"

I started swimming competitively when I was 6. I always loved the sport, and I competed all the way through high school. In college, I was not fast enough to swim for the University of Michigan, but I did continue to swim on my own for exercise. I figured my swimming career was basically over. After years of not competing, a friend invited me to try a swim meet. When I swam at that swim meet, I watched a 93 year old man race the 500 freestyle and thought to myself, "I can keep doing this for the rest of my life" and never looked back.

I love to compete. I want to be as fast as I can be and push myself to the limit. I believe this is the best place where I can continue to advance with like minded people who also have a passion for racing. It's my goal to continue dropping time and make my 40's the fastest swimming years of my life.
